About:
Mr. Jonathan Kelly is an US Air Force veteran. On active duty he served as commander of the 9th Operational Weather Squadron in Sumter, SC, and as a division chief in the Air Force Research Laboratory in Rome, NY. After retiring, he joined Science Systems and Applications Inc. (SSAI). There he served as a proposal writer, program manager supporting NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and NASA Langley Research Center, before finally becoming the company’s Chief Operating Officer in 2021. Jonathan joined AS&M as Vice President in March of 2023. He also most recently served as the president of the Virginia Aerospace Business Association (VASBA). Jonathan joined NASA in October 2024 to stand up the Space Weather Program Office. Jonathan holds a BS in Applied Physics from East Carolina University, an MS in Meteorology from Florida State University, and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Jonathan enjoys being outdoors in his spare time, working in the yard, kayaking, and hiking. He also is significantly involved in animal rescue and rehabilitation activities locally in the Hampton Roads region.
