About:

I’m originally from Tennessee. I have a B.S. in physics, an M.S. in civil engineering (focused on geomatics), and a Ph.D. in agronomy (focused on applications of remote sensing). My remote sensing focus in graduate school was inspired by an enlisted stint in the Army as a terrain analyst where I was introduced to Landsat and GIS. My professional career has been as an applied scientist working with NASA and NOAA. I spent a few years at Stennis Space Center supporting the Applied Sciences Program, a short stint supporting NOAA NESDIS’s Office of Satellite and Product Operations in Maryland, and then joined the DEVELOP National Program as the National Science Advisor in 2012.
