Ms. Baize currently serves as the Acting Deputy Director of the NASA Langley Science Directorate (SD). Ms. Baize has also served as the Associate Director for Advanced Planning and Technology and Project Scientist of the pre-formulation team for the Climate Absolute Radiance and Refractivity Observatory (CLARREO) mission. She also completed a year detail with the Flight Projects Directorate as their Associate Director.
Ms. Baize brings a broad range of expertise and experience to this position. She began her career working as an aerospace technologist at Langley, where she supported tests of the Pegasus launch vehicle and F-16 Fighting Falcon and served as a project engineer / facility safety head. Since that time, she has contributed in a variety of areas across NASA, including: the Technology Commercialization Office, where she received the prestigious Holloway Award for non-aerospace technology transfer to industry; the Office of Strategic Communications and New Business, where she led the Center’s first proposal development office; and Langley’s Climate Science Branch, where she served as Assistant Branch Head and in a variety of roles supporting CLARREO. In addition, she spent 2 years at the Kennedy Space Center’s Technology Commercialization Office, supporting much needed improvements to the Center’s launch infrastructure technology and operations approach.
Baize received her undergraduate degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University. She also received a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan and, most recently, a Master in Business Administration from the College of William and Mary with an emphasis in Marketing and Finance. Baize has received both the NASA Outstanding Leadership and Exceptional Service Medals for her contributions to the field.
