It all started when I got bored as an older student at Virginia Commonwealth University in 1989. I noticed an ad for cooperative education, where I was selected for an interview at NASA!
“Great! I get to visit Florida or Texas.”
“No,” was the response, “Hampton, VA.”
“There’s a NASA facility in Hampton?!?”
Upon completion of my co-op periods, I was offered a position as a cost-price analyst in the Office of Procurement. From there, I moved to Aeronautics Research Directorate, where I was the program analyst for two general aviation public/private partnerships: SATS (Small Aircraft Transportation System) Alliance and the AGATE (Advanced General Aviation Transport Experiments) Consortium. In 2005, I was recruited for a one-year detail with the US Department of State and was appointed Chief of Staff in the Iraq Reconstruction Management Office – Transportation, in Baghdad, Iraq. I created and implemented Transportation Policy for the Transportation Counselor and Embassy Country Team, while overseeing the implementation of $750MM+ of projects. Upon my return, I filled various roles: DPM for Business Management in the Environmentally Responsible Aviation Project (ERA), Engineering Directorate Business Manager, and DPM for PP&C in the Launch Abort Systems – ORION MPCV Program in the Flight Projects Directorate. In 2018, I completed a one-year detail to the NASA Headquarters’ Office of Agency Council Staff in the Office of the Administrator as Lead Analyst and the Partnership Council Executive. I currently serves as the Deputy Director for PP&C in the Science Directorate.
