Dr. Xiaozhen (Shawn) Xiong is a research scientist within the Science Directorate of NASA Langley Research Center, and his major research interest is radiative transfer modeling and remote sensing, with a focus on the development of PCRTM model and the PCRTM-based retrieval algorithm, and to use the remote sensing to study the trace gases emission, transport and their impact to air quality and climate change. Prior to joining NASA in the summer of 2020, Dr. Xiong was a scientist supporting NOAA/NESDIS Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR), and the projects he has worked includin the calibration of Cross-track Infrared Sounder (CrIS) on S-NPP and Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS) on JPSS-1, development of radiative transfer model for data assimilation, and the retrieval of trace gases using AIRS, IASI and CrIS.
